What do I need to bring when purchasing a guest card?
In order to obtain a guest card, you need a valid Student ID card and a valid ID-card or passport.
The Student ID card has to be valid during the entire period for your guest card, and it needs an expiry date not longer than a year from the time of purchase. If you do not have a Student ID card you can use a certificate from your home university confirming that you are studying the current semester combined with a valid photo ID, such as passport or driver’s license.
If you want to pick up a guest card for a friend, photocopies of these documents are sufficient. However, the photocopies must be clearly readable. Photocopies can be e-mailed to email@example.com.
Remember to bring your credentials to the nations as well, the Guest card alone is not enough to be let in. Entrance fees at nations may apply.
For further questions about guest cards, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
What is Studentkortet?
Since January 1, 2020, the Uppsala Student Unions and Nations cooperate with Studentkortet (STUK) for membership cards. Any question regarding the Mecenat card must be directed to the customer service of Mecenat.
If you are a registered student or PhD at Uppsala University the current semester, you automatically recieve the Studentkortet card once you become a nation and/or union member. Download the STUK app to get your digital card.
Are you not a member of a nation/union yet? Become one here!
Those who choose not to become members of a student union and/or nation, and also do not receive student funding from CSN, will have to contact Studentkortet themselves to obtain their card.
Can I get my card digitally?
You can get access to your student card in your phone via the Studentkortet (STUK) app. Download the app to get your digital card. If it doesn’t work, please contact email@example.com.
How do I get a SJ and SL logotype on my card, to get discounts?
All students at all study paces get student discounts with SJ. To get your SL/UL discounts you must be registered to a study pace of at least 75 % (at least 22,5 hp/semester). It is up to your institution to register you as a student.
Note! When travelling with SL/UL, no other study certificate than Studentkortet (or Mecenat) together with photo ID is valid. If you do not yet have your SL/UL logo on your card, do not buy a student ticket, otherwise you might get fined.
Where has my card been sent to?
If you are a new student and a member of a nation, you have to show your ID at your nation so they can confirm your identity in order to get your regular digital card in the STUK-app.
If you have only joined a union (and not a nation), your card will automatically be sent to your home address; you do not have to confirm your identity.
Why did I get a temporary card? How do I get my regular card?
As a new student, you get a yellow, temporary card in the Studentkortet (STUK) app when you become a member in a nation for the first time online via uppsalastudent.com.
This is just a temporary card and it is only valid a few weeks. In order to get your regular card that is valid the whole semester, you must contact or visit the nation that you have become a member of to complete your membership, within the date on the temporary card. Once the nation has authorized your membership, and you have pressed the update button in the app, your digital card will be updated to a regular one within 1-2 days.
I have lost my nation/student card, what should I do to get a new one?
You can order one new nation/student card for free if you visit Studentkortets website.
If you are unable to log in to Studentkortets website, you can get help from your nation with ordering a new card.
How do I cancel my nation or union membership?
To cancel your membership in a nation or union you must contact the nation or union in question, and they will terminate your membership.
How do I become a member of a nation as a PhD student?
As a PhD student, you have to visit or e-mail the nation you wish to become a part of along with an ID as well as a letter of administration. The following semester(s) you can log in and pay online as usual. It will still say “We can not confirm that you are admitted to Uppsala Universitet this semester. Therefore you can not create a new membership.”, but that you can just disregard.
Can I change to my own chosen password?
When you create your account on uppsalastudent.com, you must first use the password that the page generates and that is sent to your e-mail address. If you lose your password, just click “Forgot password” and a new one will be sent to your e-mail within 10-15 minutes.
Once you have created your account and are logged in, you can change your password at “Mina sidor”.
How do I notify a change of address?
To notify the University, Uppsala Student Union (incl. Ergo) and the nations about your new address, you must go via the Student Portal: https://studentportalen.uu.se/
If you do not have an UpUnet-S account, notify your institution or the Student Services Office (Studentservice at Segerstedthuset, Dag Hammarskjölds väg 7, Uppsala, 018-471 47 10, 018-471 47 10, firstname.lastname@example.org ) of your new address.
